Job Details

The SCADA Project Lead is responsible for leading the planning, design, execution, and successful implementation of SCADA systems. This role requires a strong technical background in SCADA systems, along with leadership, project management, and communication skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and meet project objectives.

This position will be ideally based out of Houston, TX. However, individuals based in Calgary, AB will also be considered. Travel into the US will be required.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Lead SCADA system project from planning to final delivery, ensuring all project goals and milestones are met.

  • Develop and manage project plans, milestones, timelines, dependencies, and resource allocations. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.

  • Coordinate project activities, manage tasks, and ensure clear communication between all stakeholders.

  • Oversee the planning, infrastructure build, configuration, and integration of SCADA systems.

  • Work closely with business leads, engineers, SMEs, and vendors to ensure system architecture, hardware, and software meet operational and business requirements.

  • Ensure SCADA systems are compliant with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.

  • Provide technical expertise and support during project execution.

  • Lead testing, commissioning, and validation of SCADA systems, ensuring the system meets quality standards.

  • Act as a point of contact between business users, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.

  • Ensure clear and timely communication of project status, issues, and changes to stakeholders.

  • Manage expectations and ensure satisfaction with project deliverables.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in SCADA systems commissioning, implementation, and/or support.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is preferred.

  • SCADA or related technical certifications are a plus.

  • Proven experience with SCADA platforms such as Aveva Enterprise SCADA, Aveva OASyS, or Cygnet.

  • At least 3 years of proven experience of leading or managing SCADA-related projects delivery and critical systems implementation.

  • Knowledge and understanding of highly available primary and DR SCADA infrastructure and network/communication.

  • Strong project management skills, including experience with PM tools.

  • Knowledge of SCADA protocols and prior experience working with field devices such as PLCs, and RTUs.

  • Ability to understand SCADA system issues and oversee system testing and commissioning.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
