Job Details

The HMI Developer creates custom High Performance user interface designs aligned with client specifications.  They work collaboratively with the client and Dexcent team members to meet project scope and timelines.

Work location is flexible in Canada/USA.  Work will primarily be remote, with visits to client sites in person and travel as needed.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop High Performance HMI displays for SCADA systems (OASyS)

  • Liaise with clients to develop and improve HMI display specifications and design guides

  • Design, create and edit custom bitmaps/images to be used in High Performance Interfaces

  • Conduct testing and participate in all testing phases (FAT, SAT, CAT)

  • Report on project testing progress and resolve or escalate issues promptly 

  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve issues with design/code

  • Maintain appearance and back-end code of all interfaces to comply with defined standards.

  • Migrate displays from one SCADA system to another, following the client/project design guide

  • Prepare and maintain documentation as per project requirements, Dexcent and client standards

  • Comply with all relevant change management procedures

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of related SCADA experience, AVEVA's OASyS preferred

  • 3+ years of industrial graphics design experience

  • Experienced in graphics design for icon and bitmap creation

  • VB.NET language knowledge, both in writing and debugging

  • Windows Forms .NET or Java Swing experience

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PERL, C#, Python

  • Knowledge of SQL database interaction

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, graphic design, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Competent with MS Office tools and MS Office 365

  • Knowledge of interactive tools (Teams, Sharepoint, Outlook, Slack, One Drive, Remote Desktop)

  • Technical writing/documentation talents (end-user documentation, reports, flow diagrams, as-built drawings, etc.)

  • Powershell and Command Line skills

  • Knowledge of Windows abilities (working with Services, Active Directory, File Structure permissions, and shares)
